US Wind Pulls Out of Wind Turbine Manufacturing Facility at Sparrows Point, Md.

The company relinquishes its lease to shipbuilder Anduril Industries amid continued delays besetting Ocean City wind project

US Wind, the company behind a proposed offshore wind development off the coast of Ocean City, no longer plans to develop components for wind turbines at Baltimore County’s Sparrows Point — at least not for now.

The Baltimore-based company turned over its lease at the Tradepoint Atlantic site in Sparrows Point to Anduril Industries, the shipbuilding company whose arrival was heralded on Tuesday by a visit from President Donald Trump (R).

It comes as US Wind’s only offshore wind project, planned for Ocean City’s coastline, continues to face legal headwinds and roadblocks from the Trump administration.

At the tail end of President Joe Biden’s (D) administration, the US Wind project received its last federal permit, but the town of Ocean City challenged it shortly thereafter. And after Trump’s inauguration, the federal government that once defended the permit permit for the project signaled its intent to revoke it, spurring a new round of legal wrangling.

In a statement issued Tuesday, US Wind CEO Jeff Grybowski said his company “jumped at the opportunity” to bring “near-term” jobs to the Sparrows Point site as US Wind faces delays. The site will be taken over by Anduril, which plans to invest $3.7 billion at the former home of Bethlehem Steel to construct a new shipbuilding facility, Arsenal-2, that is expected to bring an estimated 3,100 permanent new jobs to Maryland.

“Our offshore wind plans, like many other similar projects in the U.S., are delayed due to legal disputes and uncertainty created by federal agencies. So, we are shifting our focus to helping Anduril build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Sparrows Point,” Grybowski’s statement said. “This new development ensures that job creation and economic development can proceed apace at [Tradepoint].”

The facility at Tradepoint had been expected to fabricate steel components for wind turbines, including towers and monopiles, and create hundreds of manufacturing jobs. Last year, the Trump administration pulled back $47.4 million in grant funding that had been awarded during the Biden administration for the steel facility, called Sparrows Point Steel, but US Wind said at the time that it planned to move forward with the steel fabrication site anyway.

In a statement on Wednesday, Rebecca Rehr, the director of climate policy and justice at the Maryland League of Conservation Voters, bemoaned the news about Sparrows Point Steel, calling it another negative effect of Trump administration policies on clean-energy companies.

“Maryland faces rising energy demand and electricity bills. We have been consistently disappointed that the Trump administration doesn’t see the value across the supply chain for the clean energy industry, and continues to single out wind when wind is working,” Rehr said.

“We are seeing job and growth opportunities across clean energy sectors, yet this administration continues to block these projects, which are the fastest and cheapest to deploy,” her statement said.

Liz Burdock, president and CEO of Oceantic Network, a trade organization for the offshore wind industry, said in a statement that Tuesday’s US Wind announcement highlights that “many of the companies that serve offshore energy can deliver essential capabilities to a host of other ocean-based sectors.”

“Mobilizing our existing supply chain means helping those businesses find their next customer while continuing our work to advance homegrown offshore energy,” Burdock said.

PCB Technologies to Acquire Gorilla Circuits for $120 Million, Expanding U.S. Manufacturing

PCB Technologies Ltd. (TASE: PCBT) has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Silicon Valley-based Gorilla Circuits at an enterprise value of $120 million, establishing a U.S. manufacturing presence and expanding its capabilities in semiconductor, aerospace and defense electronics.

The Israeli electronics manufacturer will acquire 100% of Gorilla Circuits through a wholly owned subsidiary, adding an established printed circuit board (PCB) fabrication and electronic assembly business with more than 700 active customers.

The transaction values Gorilla Circuits at approximately 7.6 times EBITDA, based on average financial results for 2025 and the first half of 2026, subject to customary purchase price adjustments.

The acquisition is expected to close within eight months, pending customary closing conditions and regulatory approval from the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS).

PCB Technologies plans to finance the transaction through credit facilities provided by two Israeli banks.

Founded more than two decades ago, Gorilla Circuits operates in San Jose, California, specializing in high-mix, low-volume PCB manufacturing, rapid-turn production and electronic card assembly.

The company serves customers developing technically demanding electronic products, including semiconductor testing equipment, aerospace and defense systems, and advanced technology applications.

For PCB Technologies, the acquisition provides an established U.S. manufacturing operation and direct access to a substantial customer base in markets where domestic production capabilities and engineering proximity can influence purchasing decisions.

The transaction also creates opportunities to introduce PCB Technologies’ advanced substrates, microelectronics and integrated circuit packaging capabilities to Gorilla Circuits’ customers.

“This transaction is intended to transform the scale of PCB Technologies and the opportunities available to us,” said Oved Shapira, CEO of PCB Technologies.

“We are combining the technologies and manufacturing capabilities we have developed in Israel with a U.S. manufacturing base and hundreds of customers in sectors where we have a technological advantage,” Shapira said.

Gorilla Circuits has recorded significant revenue growth over the past two years.

Revenue increased from $69.4 million in 2024 to $91.9 million in 2025, representing growth of approximately 32%.

During the first six months of 2026, the company generated $54.9 million in revenue, reflecting continued expansion in its core manufacturing markets.

Adjusted EBITDA increased from $3 million in 2024 to $13.6 million in 2025. For the first half of 2026, adjusted EBITDA reached $8.9 million, following IFRS 16 adjustments.

The company also reported increasing customer order activity, with orders totaling approximately $100 million in 2025 and a 2026 order run rate of about $131 million.

As of August 31, 2026, Gorilla Circuits maintained an order backlog of approximately $38 million, providing visibility into near-term production demand.

Its customer mix includes significant exposure to technology, semiconductor and aerospace and defense markets.

During the first half of 2026, technology and semiconductor-related activities accounted for approximately 35% of Gorilla Circuits’ sales, while aerospace and defense represented approximately 40%.

These markets align with PCB Technologies’ existing focus on complex electronics used in mission-critical applications.

The acquisition will allow PCB Technologies to expand its U.S. operations while offering Gorilla Circuits’ customers access to a broader range of manufacturing technologies.

PCB Technologies specializes in multilayer rigid, rigid-flex and multi-flex circuit boards, advanced substrates, complex electronic assemblies and electromechanical systems.

Through its iNPACK subsidiary, the company also provides miniaturization and advanced integrated circuit packaging technologies.

The combined business intends to expand access to these capabilities in the United States, particularly for customers requiring specialized electronics manufacturing and advanced packaging solutions.

Shapira said the acquisition supports PCB Technologies’ strategy of offering integrated services across the electronics manufacturing process, from product development and prototyping to fabrication and assembly.

“The combination creates cross-selling opportunities across our operations, and we intend to further expand access to iNPACK solutions for U.S. customers,” he said.

The transaction is also expected to improve PCB Technologies’ ability to compete for U.S. contracts that require domestic manufacturing or close coordination between engineering teams and production facilities.

Gorilla Circuits’ existing San Jose operation provides an established manufacturing base without requiring substantial immediate capital investment.

According to PCB Technologies, the facilities are equipped to accommodate near-term business growth.

Following completion, the companies intend to evaluate additional investments in U.S. manufacturing capacity and introduce technologies related to thermal management, heat dissipation, radio-frequency applications and electronic miniaturization.

Mario Borjon, president of Gorilla Circuits, said the combination would allow the company to pursue larger and more complex customer programs.

“Combining our existing capabilities and relationships we have built in the U.S. market with PCB Technologies’ manufacturing capacity, expertise with specialized advanced technologies is expected to enable us to expand our range of solutions,” Borjon said.

The acquisition will also provide PCB Technologies with an established operating presence in Silicon Valley, where proximity to semiconductor developers and technology companies can support rapid prototyping and shorter production cycles.

Gorilla Circuits was founded by Hershel Petty and has built its business around high-reliability circuit board fabrication and assembly services.

Its manufacturing model emphasizes smaller production volumes, complex product specifications and shorter delivery schedules, complementing PCB Technologies’ existing capabilities in advanced electronics manufacturing.

The companies did not disclose the expected annual cost savings, integration expenses or specific revenue synergies associated with the acquisition.

The transaction remains subject to regulatory review, including CFIUS approval, which is particularly relevant given Gorilla Circuits’ operations in semiconductor and defense-related markets.

Founded in 1981, PCB Technologies serves customers in defense, aerospace, medical technology, radio-frequency systems, robotics and industrial automation.

The proposed acquisition would significantly expand its geographic manufacturing footprint and establish a U.S. platform for pursuing additional opportunities in advanced electronics.

With Gorilla Circuits generating $91.9 million in 2025 revenue and maintaining a $38 million order backlog as of August 2026, PCB Technologies is acquiring an operating business with established customers, manufacturing infrastructure and growing demand.

Subject to closing, the $120 million transaction will position PCB Technologies to combine its Israeli manufacturing and advanced packaging technologies with Gorilla Circuits’ Silicon Valley operations, strengthening its access to North American semiconductor, technology, aerospace and defense customers.

Taiwan-based Gudeng Aerospace opens first US manufacturing facility in Glendale

GLENDALE, AZ — Arizona’s semiconductor boom is creating new demand, and not just for massive chip factories, but for the specialized companies that keep them running.

On Tuesday, Taiwan-based Gudeng Precision Industrial celebrated the grand opening of Gudeng Aerospace, a new facility in Glendale that will manufacture critical semiconductor and aerospace components. It is part of a growing push to move more of that supply chain out of overseas shipping and into the West Valley.

Why Glendale

The Glendale plant is the company’s first in the United States. Gudeng Precision Industrial, the parent company, is known in the semiconductor industry and also does aerospace work. It already operates two factories in Taiwan.

General Manager Darren Chung said Arizona sits where the two industries meet, and that Glendale puts the company within driving distance of its aerospace and semiconductor customers.

“Arizona is the intersection between semiconductor and aerospace,” Chung said. “In Glendale, we have a perfect spot that we can drive to all of our aerospace customers and our semiconductor customers.”

Chung also pointed to the climate. Precision manufacturing depends on steady temperatures and very low humidity, and he said Arizona’s many sunny days help keep conditions constant.

Hiring

The company hopes to hire 30 to 35 people over the next two years. It is looking for high-skilled technicians, CNC machinists, machine operators and electricians, as well as people with a logic or inspection background for quality control.

All of the work will be hands-on manufacturing at the Glendale site, Chung said, not service work. Employees from Taiwan will come to Glendale to help get the plant started and train local hires.

Jobs are posted on LinkedIn and Indeed. Chung said people with a manufacturing background can also visit the Glendale shop in person.

Training the workforce

Glendale Vice Mayor Ray Malnar said the machines are assembled in Taiwan and shipped to the U.S., so they may differ from equipment commonly used here. He said that makes cooperation with local schools important, pointing to West-MEC and the community college system, which offer fast certificate programs.

“That training is going to be absolutely incredible for the workforce development within the entire region,” Malnar said.

A flagship for the region

Malnar called Gudeng a flagship business that could attract others to Arizona.

“There’s going to be many other businesses that they are associated with that will be coming to Arizona,” he said. “So it’s going to be a real boom for Arizona.”

Chung said both the aerospace and semiconductor industries are in what he called a “super cycle,” driven by demand for air travel and newer chips. He said the Airbus A350 he flew to the U.S. on has components made in Taiwan, and that the company’s goal is to build such parts in the United States.

“Our target is safety first,” Chung said.

BD To Invest $19 Billion In U.S. Through Government Partnership To Expand Medical Manufacturing

BD has entered into a partnership with the U.S. government that includes plans for the medical technology company to invest $19 billion in the United States over several years, with $3 billion specifically directed toward expanding domestic manufacturing.

The agreement is intended to strengthen U.S. healthcare supply chains and increase domestic production of essential medical consumables used by hospitals and healthcare providers.

BD, formally Becton, Dickinson and Company, said the broader $19 billion commitment will include capital, operational and supply chain investments across its U.S. business.

Of that total, $3 billion is expected to support manufacturing expansion at strategic production sites across the country.

The company plans to expand end-to-end U.S. production by approximately 5 billion essential medical consumables annually.

That additional capacity is expected to increase BD’s share of essential medical consumables supplied domestically to roughly 80%.

BD also intends to manufacture 100% of the needles it supplies for use in the United States domestically, using American-made steel.

The partnership reflects efforts by the federal government and BD to increase domestic production capacity for medical products considered important to healthcare delivery and emergency preparedness.

BD is the nation’s largest manufacturer of essential medical consumables, and the company said its products are used in approximately 90% of U.S. hospital visits.

The agreement also provides BD with relief from future tariffs imposed under Section 232 on covered products and manufacturing inputs.

That tariff treatment remains subject to the final scope and implementation of any future Section 232 actions and BD’s achievement of agreed milestones.

Because tariff rates, covered products and implementation timing have not yet been finalized, BD is not currently estimating the financial impact of that portion of the agreement.

The company expects to provide additional information once the Section 232 tariffs are finalized.

BD already operates a substantial U.S. manufacturing network, with facilities in locations including Columbus and Broken Bow, Nebraska; Canaan, Connecticut; Añasco, Puerto Rico; Sandy, Utah; El Paso, Texas; Covington, Georgia; and Sumter, South Carolina.

The new investment is intended to further expand that domestic footprint while increasing the resilience of the company’s supply chain.

BD has operated for nearly 130 years and has a long history of supplying essential medical products during major healthcare events.

The company cited its development of the first disposable syringe used in efforts against polio and the delivery of more than 2 billion additional devices during the recent pandemic as examples of its role in responding to large-scale public health needs.

BD said the new commitments are expected to help establish one of the world’s most resilient manufacturing bases for essential medical consumables while improving the reliability of supplies available to U.S. healthcare providers.

The partnership also forms part of BD’s broader strategy of investing in innovation, manufacturing and healthcare infrastructure while maintaining its global operations.

BD employs more than 60,000 people worldwide and develops technologies across medical essentials, connected care, biopharma systems and interventional care.

KEY QUOTES:

“This agreement reflects a shared commitment between the U.S. Government and BD to strengthening America’s healthcare infrastructure, expanding U.S. manufacturing capacity and supporting reliable access to essential medical technologies, ultimately building a more resilient healthcare system for the future. The administration recognizes the importance of investing in a stronger, more secure healthcare supply chain, and BD is uniquely positioned to help bring that vision to life through our scale, innovation expertise and longstanding U.S. manufacturing footprint.

For nearly 130 years, BD has partnered with health systems and governments in the U.S. and around the world to meet critical healthcare challenges. We are proud to build on that legacy through significant investment in U.S. manufacturing and innovation, while continuing to advance healthcare and serve patients, providers and communities around the world who depend on us.”

Advanced Navigation expands manufacturing to US

Advanced Navigation will expand its Australian manufacturing capability into the US, establishing a Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) Centre of Excellence in Huntsville, Alabama.

The expansion builds on Advanced Navigation’s existing manufacturing and R&D capability in Australia, which will remain the company’s core manufacturing base and technology hub, to build and deliver complex navigation technology.

This new PNT Centre of Excellence will allow specific components, systems and builds to be produced on US soil where required for security, classified programs or customer requirements.

“Advanced Navigation was built in Australia, and remains at the heart of our technology, engineering and manufacturing capability,” CEO and co-founder of Advanced Navigation, Chris Shaw, said.

“Expanding into the United States allows us to take that capability directly into one of the world’s largest defence markets. It gives us additional capacity to support U.S. programs while continuing to invest in the advanced manufacturing and R&D capability we have built here in Australia.”

Together, the Australian and US operations will increase Advanced Navigation’s global manufacturing capacity and strengthen allied access to assured PNT technology as demand grows across defence and autonomous systems.

Building fibre-optic gyroscope (FOG) sensors precise enough to detect the Earth’s rotation requires engineering at a level similar to semiconductor fabrication, where even microscopic variations can affect performance. That makes the manufacturing technique itself part of the underlying intellectual property.

According to Advanced Navigation, it is one of a few companies globally with the capability to produce strategic-grade FOGs and laser velocity sensors at scale. These technologies provide the precision required for defence platforms to understand where they are and how they are moving when GPS is spoofed, jammed or unavailable – across any harsh environment.

“With technology this precise, you can’t separate engineering from manufacturing,” Vice President of US Operations at Advanced Navigation America, Chuck Matheny, said.

“Production, calibration and validation all have to work together. The capability developed in Australia gives us a strong foundation to build from as we establish dedicated manufacturing in Huntsville and respond to the specific requirements of U.S. defence programs.”

The Huntsville PNT Centre of Excellence will focus on advanced manufacturing, adding dedicated US production capacity alongside the company’s Australian operations.

It will support the production of technologies spanning fibre optics, MEMS and photonics, while enabling Advanced Navigation to undertake US-based production where required for sensitive and classified defence programs.

Huntsville was selected for its specialist workforce and defence base required to manufacture complex technologies. Surrounded by Redstone Arsenal, the Missile Defense Agency, NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center and the headquarters of US Space Command, Huntsville has one of the highest concentrations of engineers and STEM workers per capita in the US.

“Our investment in Huntsville is an extension of what we have built in Australia, not a replacement for it,” Shaw said.

“This is about an Aussie deep-tech company taking its technology and manufacturing capability into one of the world’s largest defence markets, while continuing to invest, innovate and manufacture here at home.”

The expansion comes as Australia and its AUKUS partners deepen integration across their defence industrial bases and seek more resilient supply chains for critical technologies.

The Huntsville facility establishes a major US manufacturing node alongside Advanced Navigation’s Australian and United Kingdom operation arms, expanding across all three AUKUS nations.

This strengthens supply-chain redundancy, increases global production capacity and enables faster response to US defence requirements.

Advanced Navigation works directly with the Australian Department of Defence’s Global Supply Chain (GSC) Program to integrate its technologies into international defence networks. With more than 100,000 systems deployed globally, its customers include Anduril, Hanwha, Kongsberg, Rheinmetall, BAE Systems, Leonardo and Lockheed Martin.

Alvotech Wins FDA Approval to Expand U.S. Manufacturing Capacity for SIMLANDI at Reykjavik Facility

Approval enables AVT02 drug substance for U.S. commercial supply to be manufactured in either of Alvotech’s two Reykjavik drug substance suites

Further confirms resolution of FDA inspection-related matters at the Reykjavik site

REYKJAVIK, Iceland (October 5, 2026)

– Alvotech (NASDAQ: ALVO; ALVO-SDB), a global biotechnology company specializing in the development and manufacture of biosimilar medicines for patients worldwide, today announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved a supplement to the Biologics License Application (BLA) for AVT02 (adalimumab-ryvk), marketed in the U.S. as SIMLANDI®, enabling drug substance for the product to be manufactured in a second production suite at the company’s Reykjavik facility. This approval further confirms resolution of inspection-related matters at the Reykjavik site.

“This approval is important both operationally and as a further regulatory milestone for our Reykjavik facility,” said Lisa Graver, Chief Executive Officer of Alvotech. “The addition of DSM2 effectively doubles the drug substance manufacturing capacity available to support U.S. supply and provides greater flexibility for commercial supply of AVT02 to the U.S. market. It also reflects the significant progress our teams have made in strengthening quality systems and manufacturing operations at the site.”

The second suite, DSM2, supports the complete drug substance manufacturing process, including cell culture and purification, and doubles Alvotech’s manufacturing capacity available to support U.S. supply. DSM2 is already approved for the manufacture of commercial drug substance for European markets, including for AVT02, AVT03, and AVT05. Following the FDA approval, Alvotech can now manufacture AVT02 drug substance for U.S. commercial supply in either DSM1 or DSM2, providing additional capacity and greater flexibility across its manufacturing operations.

The approval follows the FDA’s July 2026 closure of its most recent inspection of the Reykjavik facility with a Voluntary Action Indicated (VAI) classification. Alvotech therefore expects the FDA to be able to take action on other pending applications associated with the facility according to their respective goal dates. These include BLAs for AVT05, Alvotech’s proposed biosimilar to Simponi® and Simponi Aria® (golimumab), AVT06, Alvotech’s proposed biosimilar to Eylea® (aflibercept), AVT03, Alvotech’s proposed biosimilar to Prolia® and Xgeva® (denosumab) and AVT16/AVT80, Alvotech’s proposed biosimilars to Entyvio® (vedolizumab). Each application remains subject to the FDA’s individual review and regulatory decision.

About AVT02 / SIMLANDI® (adalimumab-ryvk)

AVT02 is a monoclonal antibody approved as a biosimilar to Humira® (adalimumab) in more than 50 countries globally, including the United States, Europe, Canada and Australia. It is currently marketed in the U.S. as SIMLANDI® and under private label, in Europe as HUKYNDRA®, in Canada as SIMLANDI® and in Australia as ADALACIP®. Teva Pharmaceuticals is Alvotech’s strategic partner for the exclusive commercialization of SIMLANDI® in the United States, while Alvotech is responsible for development and manufacturing.
